During my recent trip to Germany with my parents, I had the chance to check out both the Lufthansa Business Lounge and Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Munich Airport. I visited first thing in the morning, due to an unscheduled overnight in Munich (where I stayed at the Hilton Munich Airport).
While I had access to the Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich (since I’d be flying Lufthansa’s A380 first class to Boston later in the day), I recently reviewed that, so figured I should check out the rest of Lufthansa’s lounge offerings at the airport.
Anyway, I checked out the Lufthansa Business Lounge in the Terminal 2 satellite, and found it to be pretty decent. Honestly, Lufthansa is incredibly consistent with its lounge design, and this lounge is no exception. Let’s get into the review.
Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich location
I visited the Lufthansa Business Lounge near gate K11. This is located in the Munich Airport Terminal 2 satellite, and the lounge is in the Schengen zone (for eligible flights within Europe). After passing through security, I followed the signage toward gates J, K, and L.

This required then taking the train system to the satellite terminal. The train runs frequently and it’s only a short distance, so this should only take a few minutes.

Once in the satellite terminal, I followed the signage in the direction of Lufthansa Lounges, located in the same direction as gates K1-14.

Right near gate K11, I saw the entrance to the lounge on the right.

As you can see, the Lufthansa Business Lounge and Lufthansa Senator Lounge share an entrance, so you’ll just be directed one way or another based on your ticket type and status.

Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich hours
The Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich is open daily from 5AM until 10PM, covering virtually all departures from the airport.
Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich entry requirements
Lufthansa Business Lounges are standard Star Alliance business class lounges, so can be accessed by:
- Lufthansa business class passengers, as well as business class passengers on all Star Alliance partner airlines; no guests are allowed
- Star Alliance Gold members can also use the lounge and bring a guest when flying Star Alliance the same day; however, they can also use the (theoretically better) Lufthansa Senator Lounges
- Lufthansa Miles & More Frequent Traveller members (which otherwise only equates to Star Alliance Silver); no guests are allowed
- Those with the Amex Platinum Card can access the lounge when traveling in economy on Lufthansa, as part of the card’s overall lounge perks
Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich seating & layout
The Lufthansa Business Lounge is located inside the entrance and to the left, while the Lufthansa Senator Lounge is located inside the entrance and to the right. Once inside the Lufthansa Business Lounge, there’s a customer service desk, where an agent can help with any irregular operations (this is where I was rebooked the night before, when my SWISS flight canceled).

There are then some luggage storage lockers, so that you can safely store your bags while enjoying the lounge.

There’s also an area with a variety of magazines and newspapers.

Just past that area is the business center, with a bunch of high-top seating with easy access to outlets, plus some partitions between seats. There’s also a printer in this area. I know Lufthansa consistently seems to have this design for its business center, though could you think of a less ergonomic seating option?

Past the business center are a variety of lounger chairs arranged in rows facing one another, plus some booths along the opposite wall.

There’s also an area with several day beds. It’s nice to have somewhere to rest a bit, but between the bright lights, lack of bedding, and noise, don’t expect that you’ll be able to get any real sleep here.

Deeper into the lounge is an entertainment zone of sorts, with a row of chairs facing some TVs, plus some booths with more seating.

The lounge is in an “L” shape, so this is where it bends. This part of the lounge then has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the airport. First there’s a seating area with more chairs arranged in rows facing one another.

Then there’s the dining area, with a variety of cafe-style seating. This includes tables with four chairs each, plus some booths with tables.

There’s also some more high-top seating at the very end of the lounge, right by the departures board.

While this lounge isn’t huge, it also didn’t seem to get too crowded, both when I visited in the evening and in the morning. Since this lounge is in the satellite terminal, it’s really only visited by people with flights departing from this area, unlike the lounges that are right past the security checkpoint.
Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich food & drinks
The Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich has a self-serve food selection. The selection isn’t huge, but also isn’t bad for an intra-Europe business class lounge.

The food selection includes all kinds of fresh bread (rolls, toast, croissants, etc.), scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, meatballs, cereal, cold cuts, cheese, and sweets.

There’s also a freezer with ice cream, which seems to be something that Lufthansa has rolled out to most of its lounges over time.

As far as drinks go, the lounge has a selection of self-serve liquor, beer wine, soda, juice, and water.

There’s also a coffee machine, plus a tea selection.

There’s a second coffee station, which has an additional coffee machine, tea selection, and also some yogurt, fresh fruit, and muffins.

Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich bathrooms & showers
The Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich has both bathrooms and shower suites right near the entrance.

The men’s room has three sinks, four urinals, and several stalls, and seemed to be well maintained during my visit.

The lounge also has several well appointed shower suites.

Each shower suite has a sink, a toilet, and a walk-in shower. Toiletries are in reusable containers, from L’Occitane.

The only thing to be aware of with the shower suites is that they lack ventilation, so if you take a hot shower, be prepared to sweat afterwards.
Bottom line
The Lufthansa Business Lounge Munich is a perfectly nice Schengen business class lounge. Lufthansa is very consistent with its lounges, and this lounge is no exception. The lounge is modern (though sterile), with a variety of seating options, and a pretty good selection of self-serve food and drinks. It’s also nice that the lounge has shower suites.
I wouldn’t arrive early to use the lounge, though it’s also not a bad place to kill some time, especially if you’re looking to grab something to eat or drink.
